Looking at Welsh castles today. :) I think we're going to take a day trip to see some of them, and I'm pretty much over-the-top excited.

The past few months, I haven't been as excited about the trip. (STILL EXCITED, just not as excited as I've been in the past... The normal Rachel why-can't-it-be-here-now-i-can't-stand-it excited.) Mostly that's been because I've been stressing about budgeting and planning the trip and wondering how the heck we're going to see everything we want to in two weeks while staying on budget... But today I realized we sort of had a free day in the middle of our travels, and I also realized that Wales wasn't as far from where we'll be staying as I originally thought. (The border is like an hour away.)

So I thought I'd see if there were any castles in striking distance. Seeing a Welsh castle has been on my list of things to see in the UK since I was 12. It was funny, because when I was looking up Welsh castles this afternoon, I stumbled across the exact same website that I remember pouring over when I was 12. Who would have thought it would still be there and be one of the top search results? I seriously spent hours looking at the pictures on that site more than 10 years ago. I even thought I'd try learning Welsh because of it. lol. That didn't go very far...

It was looking at Harlech Castle that piqued my excitement again. Specifically the picture a third of the way down of the tower with the foggy countryside in the background. It reminded me how beautiful the UK is. Unfortunately Harlech is a longer drive...so we'll actually be going to few other castles. But that one is on my list for the next trip...whenever that is. ;)

Oh, I'm going to have a blog for our travels. And it's going to be a private blog because I don't want everyone in the world to know when we're on vacation. (Paranoid journalism student here. Sorry.
