One of my classes got canceled today, so I've got a little extra time and decided I'd update my blog. :)
Guess what I did all weekend! Homework. :) For one class. And a little bit of work. In the past week I've spent at least 20 hours working on homework for one class! Ridiculous!!!! Because my teacher assigns us 70 or so pages to read, but we have to outline every subheading of every chapter and have to have 10-15 quotes or points from every subheading, plus a theme for every subheading. I've already decided, this class is getting bad reviews from me. No one class should take as much time as a part-time job.
And the books we have to read are kinda interesting.... The first one was called "Lying." Great name for a book and great thing to be teaching in school, no? The next book we're reading is called "Secrets." And someone in my class said the chapters are a lot longer than the last book. *sigh* I'll be doing abstracts all weekend every weekend this semester, apparently.
This past Friday was crazy! Back-to-back tennis matches makes for long days for the SID. lol. And I totally forgot to mention in the press release that the men's tennis team is No. 38 in the nation (which is a big deal for tennis). Oops. And I forgot to mention that Bronco Mendenhall and Josh Quezada played tennis during the intermission. lol. That was really funny to watch. Josh didn't really know much about tennis, either. I sat next to him when he and Bronco were waiting to play, and he kept asking questions about tennis that were kind of funny. But then, I didn't really know some of those questions when I started as SID...
So many people in our ward have moved out! It's kinda crazy. And tons of new people are moving in. Most of them are very newly weds who got married over Christmas break. I kinda feel bad for them, having to get used to married wards. It's definitely an adjustment!
The best thing of the weekend was getting our car fixed! :) Happy day! Our battery was completely dead and even though we jumped it, it wouldn't hold a charge. So it would run, and then if we turned it off and tried to start it again later, it would be dead again. Jeff tried to put our old car's battery in, but it was too big. And, the first time he tried to put it in, he put it in backward and that blew the battery fuse. : / So when we tried to put the old battery back in, the factory alarm would go off. And the factory alarm is worse than the regular car alarm, because instead of a bunch of beeps, it's one single blare like someone's laying on the horn.
We were so confused as to why the alarm went off when we tried to put the old battery in, and I felt really bad because our car was parked in the covered parking lot, so it echoed off the walls. The poor people whose apartment is under there..... Jeff finally figured out about the fuse when he was trying to disconnect the horn fuse. lol. So he went to Auto Zone and got the battery checked and charged and got a new fuse. Now our car runs well. :) Except that the stereo locked when the battery died, and now we need to get the code from the dealership so we can use the stereo again.
Saturday, after my stupid abstract was done, we went out to Zupa's. :) Best restaurant ever. I love it. Nuts About Berries salad with strawberry vinaigrette is divine, especially during the winter. And Their sandwiches always taste so good. So much better than Subway, even though that's good too. I've tried to recreate Zupa's sandwiches, but they just aren't the same. I'm determined to figure out their cinnamon nuts and vinaigrette, though. :)
