Crazy Week!

This week has been crazy! And the only reason I have time to write right now is because 1) I have to take 30-minute breaks for every five hours of working (which is a dumb federal law) and 2) I’m already over my hours for the week and I still have to set up for two volleyball matches and work them. And I don’t want to go home because I’ll probably just end up watching “I Love Lucy” like I have every evening this week… And while I love that show, I really shouldn’t watch it as much I have. I’ve just been so tired after work this week and haven’t had the desire to do anything physically or mentally tiring.

AH! Volleyball officially starts tonight! And it’s a tournament… so I’ll also be working all day tomorrow. It’s fun, but kinda crazy that my very first match experience is a tournament.

This past weekend we celebrated our first anniversary! :D I can’t believe it’s already been a year! Nor can I believe that Lindsay’s getting married in a week. Crazy!

For our anniversary, we stopped in Boise and stayed at the Anniversary Inn. (We stayed there after our wedding too.) The little room we had was so adorable! It was a country garden, and then bed was round and inside a little gazebo with flowers and ivy hanging from the ceiling and around the walls. So cute. And the shower was an old fashioned watering can and there was a little white picket fence. A pond and pretty landscape were painted on the walls with a pretty thatched-roof cottage. *Sigh* Someday I want my home to look like that.

During the afternoon, we went to the open-air market in downtown Boise. It reminded me of the markets in Paris. There were even several fresh bread vendors with baguettes! We bought a garlic and herb baguette that was really delicious. We also bought a bar of lavender soap which smells so good! After the market, we went to the state capital (romantic, I know…) and walked around for a while. It was actually kind of cool, although the outside looks kind of ugly. Instead of pretty stone, it all looks like dark cement.

Then, we drove around a little, bought snacks for the car ride home, filled up on gas and went to the Boise Rose Garden. It was pretty, even though the roses were on their way out. We also went to the Idaho Black History Museum. It was really tiny, but there were a couple of paintings that were so cool! One was of Martin Luther King and the other was a collage of different events in African American history. I think it was  called “Slave to President” or something similar. I don’t really like Obama, but this painting was cool. It showed Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King and a bunch of other key people. The colors were so beautiful, very deep and rich.

Then we saw a bunch of little pioneer houses in a mini pioneer village and we tracked animals in a little Lewis and Clark garden. It was pretty fun.

For dinner, we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory. We dressed up (me in my new dress that I bought for myself for our anniversary… Jeff didn’t have time to get me a present, so we went to Wal-Mart and bought a dress my sister had that I was coveting… Except Jeff forgot to bring his card, so I had to pick out and pay for my own anniversary present. Lol. Oh, well. There’s always next year.). After dinner, we watched “I Love Lucy” at our hotel. Jeff actually likes that show! Which is great, because I love old movies and Jeff normally hates them. Luckily “I Love Lucy” is hilarious and Jeff likes hilarious things. Unfortunately, I think he’s taking some tips from Ricky, which may come back to bite me. He keeps laughing and saying, “That’s a great idea!!!” Oh, dear…

Before the anniversary, we went to my grandma’s 80th birthday party in Washington. I loved it. So much fun! I loved seeing all my family. We stayed with my aunt Jill. The evening we got there, we all played on her 28-foot-tall swing set. It was fun hanging out with all my siblings (minus Paul and Lindsay). We should do it more often…

School starts Monday. And I don't have to go! Heeheehee. :) Unfortunately I'm not in the BYU system, so I can't get my staff parking pass until Monday, which means I won't be able to park on campus... Which is really annoying. Oh, well.
