Raindrops on Roses

http://temeculavalleyrosesociety.org
When I was younger, I loved watching The Sound of Music partly because the movie lasted so long, which meant double movie time, and because the music was so great! One of the best songs of that wonderful musical was "My Favorite Things". My dad and I made up our own version of the song, including cool sides of pillows and ice cream and basketball.

I've been thinking about that a lot lately, especially since they seem to play that song a lot on the radio this time of year (even though it really has nothing to do with Christmas except a brief mention of snowflakes). Here are some things my favorite things song would include.

- Cool side of the pillow (has to be there)
- experimenting on a new recipe and having it be a hit
- email marking "mon amour" and starred
- two-colored roses
- new clothes that fit perfectly
- Christmas decorations
- a warm, crispy baguette
- turning in an assignment and realizing you're done
- stacks of newspapers waiting to be opened and the sound of the pages fluttering
- feeling cute
- warm, really chocolatey hot cocoa
- Phineas and Ferb
- reading Rick Riordan books with Jeff
- not having to wake up to an alarm
- Comms Department "finals"
- getting the hang of a new step in dance class
- random text messages
- waking up and realizing I've got two more hours to sleep
- making big plans
- Jeff's attempts at being romantic :)
- when Jeff likes the food I make
- working for BYU Athletic Communications
- talking to myself or Jeff in French
- Matheson family football parties
- Christmas breakfast at Jana's
- Oovoo calls with Corie, Matt, Carolyn, Mary Carol, Brent and David
- seeing my name on page 1 of the Universe
- winning in Pigskin Pick 'Em
- gelato
- cancelled classes
- curling my hair (which I can successfully do now that it's short)
- using my kitchen step stool
- finding the perfect gift
- driving a car other than the one Jeff and I own :P
- lemon blossoms
- the BYU press box
- free food
- packages from Mary Carol
- watching Polar Express and sleeping in the basement on Christmas Eve
- vanilla car fresheners
- the smell of ground beef cooking
- the smell of fresh lemons

  1. I didn't realize that we share the love for lemon blossoms. There are several other things on your list that would be on mine as well (except on one of them I would change the name to Michael ;).
