Bernie

Once upon a time, I really wanted a sewing machine. Which was strange, because my whole life I'd had access to a great sewing machine and had never had the desire to learn how to sew. But then I became a wife and started getting interested in domestic things. I also started looking at tons of craft and sewing blogs and thought, "Hey, I think I could do that." I also got into this "If I could make that, it would be so much cheaper and so much cooler" mode. And I saw a bunch of cute little girls clothes and cute little dolls that I could make....if I had a sewing machine. And journeying up to my parents' house every day to work on projects on the great sewing machine from my youth did not sound very appealing... Because with work and everything, that's a long day!

So once upon a time, I told Jeffrey over and over and over again "I want a sewing machine" in a sighing, dreamy voice, hoping that he'd get the picture and find a way to get me a sewing machine for Christmas. I thought my days of experimenting and adventuring in the sewing world were far away.

But those days are over. :) *Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!* A couple days ago, my mom surprised me and said she and my dad were going to help me buy one for a graduation present! (Because, just for the record, I finished my very last internship assignment yesterday and I'm officially done with school forever.) I could hardly contain my joy and excitement. Ask Jeff. :)

Today, we went to the Bernina shop on Center and bought my new Bernina sewing computer. (Yeah, sewing computer. They're not even sewing machines anymore, that's how high tech they are.) It's just a very basic machine, but it's practically the same as my mom's feature-wise, and my mom has never needed anything more. She's an expert when it comes to sewing. (She made all my bridesmaids dresses and whipped up a skirt the morning of my wedding.) She also practically swears by Bernina, so that's why I picked Bernina. I think those machines are basically the best there are. I don't know too much about them though...except that I have one sitting on the desk by my bed now. :)

Jeff nicknamed it Bernie. lol. And I'm so excited to get started! We'll see where I am with my basic sewing knowledge....

Side note, this lady on an ESPN documentary on Michael Jordan called the hoop a "basketball goal"... Oh, gosh. That's embarrassing. Haha!
