Hooray for the future!

Today was crazy! This afternoon we had a old ward reunion, then I had to head straight to the softball field and after that we grabbed Zupa's on our way to an arcade for a current ward activity. Then we went to JoAnn's for thread, because I ran out of white thread in the midst of my current sewing project. I also may have picked up a couple of patterns because there was a $1.99 sale on McCall's and Butterick. :) Then we went to Barnes and Noble and looked at books, even though we have a Nook and hardly ever buy hard copies of books anymore.

Sometimes people are funny. Like......even though you want to be friends and you're interested in their lives and are happy for them when good things happen and sad when bad things happen and you thought that once upon a time you were friends.......when you see them again, all you feel are unfriendly vibes whenever you're around them. Like they don't really want to talk to you at all and they wish you weren't there. And you're not really sure what you did to make them feel that way. *sigh* It's kind of dumb and I'm really trying to not let it get to me, but it really makes me sad.

Then that got me thinking how Hannah's moving in January. And the Nilsens are moving next summer. :( Then it will be time to find some new friends to do stuff with on the weekends, among a lot of other, more important things.

Last weekend was fun, though! The in-laws were in town and they bought us a really nice camera as a graduation present! :) It was so nice of them. A friend of mine from work is going to teach me some of the basics of using a DSLR next week. I'm really excited. :)

Jeff graduated last weekend. Yay! :) This sounds so cheesy and kind of silly, but Jeff looked really attractive in his cap and gown. He went to convocation with my sister and her husband, who were also graduating. My sister played the piano and she did really well. :) And Jeff's old roommate played the organ, which was also pretty cool. The only downside was how incredibly long it lasted. The business school has way too many people! But I was able to try out my camera, which was fun.

The next day we volunteered at the Republican convention. I really enjoyed it, but the floor was cement, so by the afternoon my heels were killing me. Hatch was forced into a primary by less than 50 votes! Crazy! I think he'll end up winning, but that was pretty insane how close he came to skipping the primary. The governor won more than 60 percent, so that was happy. And I was pretty impressed. We met him about two months ago and only talked for a minute or two, but he remembered us! He came over and said hi and asked how we were doing and later he told my dad that it was good to see me and Jeff again. Wow! He meets thousands of people in his job, and he remembered a young couple he briefly met at a small-town dinner two months before.

The apartment search is still going on. Yay. Not really. Finding married housing here is no fun. lol.

One of the four GAs is moving on this summer. He got a job at Oklahoma. I'm really excited for him, but it's sad for our office. Everyone relies on him for a lot. And he's kind of the voice of wisdom in the back office. lol. We'll have to shuffle everything around now that he's leaving. I'd like to be involved with football or men's basketball next year, but at the same time, I kinda like my women's volleyball and women's basketball teams. :)

Hooray for the future! lol. You can always count on it being hard, being happy and bringing the unexpected.
